...In other words, you'll find him just sort of. Hanging around near where you're living?? Don't worry about it. He's definitely here on business and not because he's worried about Dorothea, because that would just be weird. Surely Dorothea will notice him and he won't have to knock on the door and try to find a way to word "I want to make sure you're doing okay" because that isn't happening. That involves admitting to a feeling and today is not the day Hubert will do that.]
no subject
...She's apparently got Hubert for a lot of things, at the moment, because she's pretty sure she just saw him out the window while she was taking care of her hair. Surely he'll come to the door if he needs anything, Dorothea thought, forgetting that Hubert is aggressively Like This and a walnut and a half.
So naturally, it falls on her to check on him too. Because somebody hasn't learned how to use his words, Dorothea will be going out the door to go catch Hubert--]
You know, Hubie, most people tend to go for the door when they're trying to see someone. [It's light; if it had been anyone else but Hubie or like, Bern, there'd be a lot less kindness.] So, may I ask what brings you here?

Hey, Dorothea? It’s Will. Remember me? Lovely jaunt through the hellscape?
Just checking in to make sure you didn’t die after all of that!
[Obviously she didn’t die if she set up the inbox, but he’s saying it anyway.]
no subject
Of course I remember you, Will! Believe me, it'd be hard to forget you after that little jaunt. I'm doing perfectly fine, though, no long lasting injuries or anything like that at all.
I take it you're doing alright for yourself as well? You're certainly alive and well enough to be chatting, so I hope that's the case.

He knows what this is; he'd have to be blind to miss how several others have been hit with the same petals and experienced... problems afterwards. But surely it wouldn't happen to him and surely it wouldn't be as bad. Unfortunately, he was wrong on both counts, and it's desperation that drives him to text Dorothea.
Of everyone present here, she's the one person who will likely understand and be willing to help him... deal with this. He wouldn't want to inflict his own stupid mistake on Lady Edelgard, after all - but Dorothea won't find it nearly as awkward, and she'll likely take joy in teasing him about it for the rest of time. That's a worthy sacrifice to have this taken care of.
...If he stops and considers it for too long, he's going to have to acknowledge that he's far more excited about this than pollen alone would cause. So he doesn't - he texts Dorothea to tell her he'll be dropping by momentarily; that there's something he needs her assistance with.
Hubert does just that. It's not too late in the evening thankfully, but it certainly isn't the sort of time you drop in on someone for a social call. Dorothea may have already worked out exactly why Hubert's showing up here, but he doesn't exactly make it obvious; his cape is off and held in front of him. He's actually got it clasped like he's covering a wound, because apparently terrifying anyone unfortunate enough to witness this and also Dorothea is absolutely the acceptable way to handle the problem of insatiable arousal thanks to pollen?? Sure, Hubert.
Anyway, despite the way he's got the cape clutched he doesn't seem hurt; he's slightly flushed, but that's about all that's out of the ordinary from a first glance.]
no subject
It's clearly something he can't bother Edie with, at any rate. He likely doesn't want to worry her, which is understandable. But really, a part of her is definitely curious as to just what's happened. It isn't like Dorothea's been blind to people who've dealt with the Hanara; she didn't deal with it much herself, but she's seen people, and this is far from a socially acceptable visiting time...
Maybe she's a little excited for this too, really, but she's getting ahead of herself. Even as she goes up to answer the door, she tells herself that. She doesn't know why Hubie's here, and it could very well be because he got stabbed in the Underground or something. Dorothea's heard things about that place, and Hubie's likely a regular in that shady space, so maybe it's just--
...
Dorothea opens the door and sees Hubert here, and it feels like so many questions are answered. Thankfully, she keeps some of the amusement off of her face, but...]
Hey, there you are. Come on inside, hm?
[It's an easy invitation; Dorothea will step aside to let Hubert in while she goes to close the door behind her, not quite walking back to the couch just yet. She's definitely working things out, and...well, she's not going to tease him yet but she does need to ask, all the while staring at that cape.]
So, what happened to you? And what can I do to help you, Hubie?

Is it a dream? Perhaps. But the sensations seem a bit too thorough for that, a bit too strong; there's not just vision, but sound and smell and touch as well, everything that comes with this very long, surprisingly well-lit corridor.
There are doors embedded into the wall, but they don't seem very interesting; it's difficult to say why. They're just as unfamiliar as everything else here but they bring with them the knowledge that there's nothing to see that you couldn't see anywhere else, whereas the double-doors at the end of the corridor feel more like a destination.
Do you want to see where all of this is going, or...?]
no subject
Hello...?
[Hm. It's strange, and Dorothea can't say she likes it very much. There really isn't much that can be done; if this is where she's ended up, she'll have to find some way out of here. And needless to say, those double doors at the end of the corridor feel like the best way out of whatever this place is.
And so, Dorothea is absolutely going to see where all of this is going. May as well, right? She doesn't know just what's beyond the door, but staying in here isn't an option. She'll press forward; let's see what lies beyond those doors.]

I snuck a look at the Professor's calendar and saw it was your birthday tomorrow. Is there anything I can do to make it special for you? I realize I don't know a ton about your preferences, so I didn't want to guess and surprise you with something you didn't like.
no subject
you're super sweet to ask me oh my gosh :)
if you want to drop by with some sweets or the like i definitely wouldn't be opposed
or if you wanted to take a day trip somewhere?
i don't know how busy you are and wouldn't want to impose for too long
i imagine that's pretty simple but
would it surprise you if i said i wasn't used to doing something big for my birthday??
professor whisking me aside for flowers and a tea party aside of course

Happy Birthday Dorothea!
I hope you have an amazing day, you deserve it. I would love for you to join me for tea when you have the time so that I may thank you properly for everything you do. Please take the time to do things you enjoy today and let me know if you need anything.
- Byleth Eisner.
no subject
Well. Needless to say, Dorothea is absolutely jazzed by these gifts, and it's later on in the evening that Byleth will be getting a text--a simple selfie taken in Dorothea's bedroom with her trying on the new dress, a nice vase where all of the flowers are stored by her bedside, and her hair seems to have been tied off into a low braid over her shoulder with that burgundy ribbon. It's meant to be cute, more than anything, and Dorothea seems more than pleased with the outfit.
Besides, why wouldn't she want to show off her gift to her favorite
dadprofessor??]hey professor!!
thank you for your gift today :)
i was absolutely elated to receive it from you and i hope it looks as nice as you imagined it would!!
i truly appreciate it and i think my date tonight will enjoy it too
take care!!

➵ DELIVERY | DECEMBER 25th
The letter is as follows:]
Dorothea,
I hope you've been doing okay! I tried to make some cookies that both taste good and also look elegant, since when I think of you I certainly think of someone who's very graceful. I don't entirely understand this holiday, but I do like the concept of giving gifts to your friends, so I definitely had no problem jumping on that. Please enjoy the cookies!
Sincerely,
Ashe
no subject
Ashe,
Thank you very much for the cookies. I was absolutely delighted by them! Thankfully not enough to ensure they're simply gone within the day, but goodness, they certainly won't survive the end of the month. You're a sweetheart for thinking of me, and I appreciate it.
I can't just let you have nothing in return, though! I've been trying to learn how to make some things, and I've been getting the hang of making quilts in particular. I hope you like it, and some of the other things I've managed to get.
With love,
Dorothea ♥
[Inside of the box that he eventually receives will be a nice, blue and gold patched quilt, along with quite a few books--mostly fantasy stories and the like.]
