Disposition: Personable: If there's one thing Dorothea tries to exude at all times, it's the charm and grace required to get on people's good sides. From the roles she's played on the stage to the role she played as a student in Garreg Mach, Dorothea approaches all of them with the same air of charm and flirtatiousness that's gotten her through much of her life. Not exactly unscathed, but a little charm can go a long way towards making one's life easy, from Dorothea's experience. Dorothea has gotten used to using her charm to get what she wants in life; be it attempting to net herself a nice spouse, or even getting into Garreg Mach itself by currying favor with a noble, her personality is a weapon Dorothea can utilize well to get what she needs. It also allows her to rub elbows, so to speak, with just about everyone as easily as breathing. Dorothea can chat just about anyone up, be they noble or commoner, and treats them all with a general baseline of respect. By which I mean; she'll usually give someone a nickname and treat them as if they're an old friend, unless given a reason not to. She's also pretty adept at reading people; it helps when deciding just what sort of reactions she wants to get out of them.
Jaded: To say that the war and five year timeskip have certainly dampened her rather cheery and carefree nature would be akin to saying water is wet; a grossly obvious statement that truly understates just how much the war has affected her. She's still got plenty of charm left in her, and certainly tries her best to keep optimistic in the face of the war and the losses that come with it. But it's all too clear that the war has worn her down and given her a reality check about the way the world works. Fighting against the former schoolmates of even the Blue Lions and Golden Deer reminds her of just how much the toll is of the societal upheaval that Edelgard seeks, that good people will have to die in order to pave the way for a better world. In comparison to the Dorothea who believed so strongly that finding someone who could care for her would solve all of her problems, the Dorothea of now has received a rather harsh reality check about the way of the world. That her own charm can only get her so far in life, and has little to no use in the war-time stalemate of her current life.
Noble Troubles: For starters, Dorothea is the only commoner among the Black Eagles; even if Petra is technically a commoner as well, she is still a Princess of Brigid, and Dorothea's lack of pedigree certainly sticks out like a sore thumb among them. And that's to say nothing of Dorothea's life, that's practically been shaped by this lack of pedigree. Dorothea's got a chip on her shoulder in regards to the nobility that's all too obvious, and she certainly hates being treated as a lesser being because of it. It's certainly what drives a lot of her irreverent treatment of the nobility; be it her treating Edelgard, the Emperor of the land she hails from, as if she were just any other girl, or leaving scathing remarks for those who try to treat her like just another pretty face, or those who try to brush her off due to her lack of status.
Former Street Rat: Dorothea's backstory has shaped a lot of the way that she sees the world; from being kicked out of a nobleman's house with her mother, her mother dying and being forced to live on the streets until a stroke of luck saw her an opera star, Dorothea has been forced to confront much of the way the world works for the crestless and poor from a young age. It's inspired a very high degree of desperation out of her, to maintain her beautiful looks and her beautiful voice long enough so she can find someone who might be able to look past all of that and want to spend the rest of their lives together. It's also taught Dorothea that the world can be a dangerous place; that she had to look out for herself first and foremost, from the likes of kidnappers and attempted murders. She learned to defend herself from such attacks at a young age, because she knew she had to.
Under pressure: Dorothea is an adaptable person when put into a new set of circumstances; while she's certainly not going to like her arrival here due to Professor Byleth's return and wanting to make sure that Edelgard and her former classmates are okay, if nothing else, the explanation of the situation at large and what they need to do will placate Dorothea enough to be a good little busy bee and go gather Manna. If mostly because she's willing to do what she can to survive, but also because such things come very easily to her. She did it to survive on the streets and even though luck brought her to the stage, her adaptability kept her there, and she's more than willing to use it to her advantage here.
Of course, that isn't to say she's not going to have problems; Dorothea is loyal to the Black Eagles Strike Force, and thus definitely wants to get back home at the earliest convenience. But she's more than willing to work with just about anyone; she worked with all types in Garreg Mach, and she did so back home as a member of the Black Eagles Strike Force. Be it getting home, or helping people get used to physical affection like, Dorothea's more than willing to rise to the challenge of helping people, remarkably at ease with the idea.
If anything, she'll be surprisingly more at ease here than she would be back home due to the lack of obvious war-time troubles. (Which. May present it's own problems, but that's a problem for Future Dorothea.) Which will definitely paint her interactions with other canonmates from different timeline points; she's not going to seek conflict out with them unless they seek it from her first. She's more than inclined to treat them like the same friends she made at Garreg Mach, if only to not cause a conflict.
Of course, that's not to say Dorothea won't have some problems of her own to deal with; for one, she's certainly not going to be fond of anyone who uses their authority (be it real or so-called) to harm others, and as much as she'd really prefer to avoid fighting, she will step up if she feels that someone is being treated wrongly; mostly with words, but if it escalates to violence, Dorothea will defend herself if necessary.
There is also the fact that Dorothea's been so used to maintaining a her persona of a bubbly, cheerful woman for so long that she'll almost certainly be forced to confront her more somber, reality checked feelings and surprisingly lonely nature in the game as well. She's so used to faking her feelings to get ahead and be who people want her to be that genuine feelings will be a bit of a hurdle for her to overcome.
Condition upon arrival: Perfectly healthy! No injuries or the like here.
Abilities: While pretty much all of the units of FE3H are kind of just moldable little clay pots that you can make do anything if you set your mind to it enough, I'm going to be going with something that plays to Dorothea's strengths for her class line; namely, she's the Black Eagle's Dancer, which is a class the player can get by entering a student into the White Heron festival and winning it with said student.
What Dorothea can do as a dancer, essentially, is give another character a boost of energy to work twice as hard on the battlefield. The best way I can describe the dance is that it acts as a sort of adrenaline boost, that she can't use on herself but can use on others.
Dorothea's true combat talents, however, lie in the usage of magic; she specializes offensive spells (called Reason magic in-game), particularly those associated with lightning and fire. She can send bolts of lightning across the battlefield at an opponent, and powerful fireballs from high above at her enemies. Pretty much all of her spells are all power with little finesse, but they sure pack a punch.
That's not all of the magic she can use, though, as she's decently proficient with healing spells (called Faith magic in-game), able to utilize them to heal allies up close, or from a distance. She can utilize it to heal some injuries; cuts and bruises can disappear fairly easily, though she will need to concentrate more to, at best, close up more serious injuries like gashes and the like. Anything beyond that is out of her skill range.
Dorothea does have minor training with swordplay under her belt as well, but considering her rather...lackluster at best physical abilities, it's really only something she'll use as a last resort.
Inventory: - The clothes on her back.
- One Iron Sword.
- that's it.

Notes: Here's Dorothea's wiki page if any of y'all need any clarification on things! Dorothea's gonna be coming from her home route (Black Eagles/Crimson Flower), which means she has a tiny bit more plot relevance than elsewhere. For the sake of timeline reference, because Byleth can be a guy or a girl, Byleth will be a girl in Dorothea's timeline, and while you can recruit all of the non-lord/retainer units if you wish, the Byleth in this timeline recruited only the Ashen Wolves, aka the DLC characters. Also, Dorothea won the White Heron festival, and thus she's the class's Dancer!
![]() ★ First Impressions ♚ VISUAL: To say the least, Dorothea is the sort of person who makes a hell of an impression upon stepping into the room. She's the sort of person who's beautiful, and she knows it; her clothing is meant to emphasize her good traits, the chest and hips of her clothes nice and form fitting to show herself off, and even her legs are nice and tastefully being shown off. Beauty is a tool for Dorothea, and it's one she utilizes well, and taking care to make sure her appearance is tip-top at even the worst of times is just how she does things. ♚ FASHION: Dorothea's sense of fashion is definitely perhaps a touch unusual at first glance, but needless to say, it works well for her. But she loves beautiful things, for the most part, and things that emphasize her good traits. ♚ DEMEANOUR: Perhaps unsurprisingly, Dorothea's demeanor is every bit as pleasant as Dorothea looks; she's perhaps a touch overly familiar with even strangers, but Dorothea is friendly and personable at first glance. Able to talk easily to those around her, Dorothea can chat away like it's nothing, and even despite the almost somber air she can present at times, she's still the sort of person who greets everyone with a smile and is more than here to make conversation. Even so, she's perhaps surprisingly guarded; it meshes almost seamlessly with the demeanor she presents, but there are certain subjects she can shy away from (namely, a lot of things about herself), and there is definitely the sense that at least some of her demeanor is a front for someone who's a lot more depressed than she lets on. ♚ SOUND: Dorothea is voiced by Allegra Clark, who does a very stunning job of demonstrating all that Dorothea is; from the flirty, cute tones she takes to the almost world weary depression, from even that to a fierce woman who's determined to make some kind of way in the world, this gal does it all. You can listen to her here! (just keep in mind spoilers for all routes here!!) ♚ SCENT: You better believe she smells like some nice perfume. It's cheap, for the most part, but Dorothea hates going without some sort of nice, inviting scent. ♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: Nothing in particular; honestly, it's mostly just very depressing. She has no method to defend against this, so please ask first! ♚ MAGICAL INFORMATION: Dorothea's magic is mostly just limited to Fire, Thunder, and healing spells. (i'll...go into detail later I AM TIRED LEAVE ME BE) ★ OOC ♚ BACKTAGGING: I'm game for it! I might drop things that are older as a general rule, as to not overwhelm myself, but feel free to let me know if you wanna continue something. ♚ FOURTHWALLING: No thank you! ♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: It really depends, but usually Dorothea's pretty here for it if asked and she's not explicitly put off by the character asking. Girls will usually have an easier time of it, but honestly, as long as you're not a creep she's down. Honestly, she'll probably wind up doing it herself pretty casually, though I'll always ask first! ♚ FLIRTING: Go for it if you want! Hell, Dorothea might even flirt back. Or even start the flirting if the other person seems receptive to it and they're cute. She's a simple bisexual. ♚ SMUT: Feel free to ask! Dorothea certainly isn't going to shy away the smut based aspects of the game, but for the player's own comfort, 20+ only for smut. But I'm pretty down to clown for shit, I've got a general kink-list here if needed. Just mind the Nos and we'll be a-okay! ♥ ♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Ask me first!! Dorothea's environment has, at the very least, been bad, so she can actually put up a fight if necessary. She'd very much like to avoid getting into fights unless it's an absolute necessity, though, but she's actually pretty here to throw down if someone's hurting someone she cares about. Basically, ask me first and let's plan it out. Especially for anything beyond simple injuries. ♚ RELATIONSHIPS: I'm down for it, Dorothea's pretty down for it, though I'd prefer to discuss it first! Mostly because she is slightly inclined to polyamory, she might get wigged if it gets brought up randomly, and I'd just prefer everyone be on the same page, first. ♚ CRAUS: I'd prefer to not have Dorothea be recognized, sorry! ★ Permissions ♚ CONTENT WARNINGS: Hoo boy, so! Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a game that centers around very heavy war themes, and Dorothea's own backstory deals with homelessness, kidnapping, attempted murders (on herself), child abandonment, parental death, and just. Generalized Bullshit if I'm gonna be honest with you. She's pretty inclined to keep a fair amount of this under wraps, but she is willing to talk about it with those she grows to trust. If you wanna avoid any of these subjects though, or if you wanna avoid threading with Dorothea in general, that's totally understandable! Let me know in the comments below; all comments are screened! ♚ FIRE EMBLEM THREE HOUSES SPOILERS: Dorothea's coming from the middle of the Crimson Flower route, which has a Lot Of Shit going on. That's the only route you have to worry about spoilers for, so if you wanna avoid them, lemme know below! |
